Installation and disassembly methods of skeleton oil seal

1、 Dismantling method

clean

First, clean the oil and mud around the oil seal to prevent impurities from falling into the cavity.

disassembly tool

Commonly used: screwdriver, hook, puller, one-on-one oil seal remover.

It is not recommended to pry open with sharp tools, as it can easily scratch the shaft and hole wall.

operating steps

Hook the outer ring or lip of the oil seal with a hook and gently pry it outward.

Apply even force, pry multiple points, do not forcefully pry on one side to prevent deformation of the hole.

After removal, check the journal and mounting holes for scratches, wear, and burrs.

2、 Installation method (key)

Check accessories

The surface of the shaft is smooth without burrs, rust, or grooves.

The inner wall of the installation hole is clean and free of deformation.

lubrication

Apply a small amount of lubricating grease or the same type of engine oil on the inner side of the oil seal lip.

The outer ring can also be thinly coated for easy pressing in.

Distinguish direction

Spring side (lip side) facing towards oil chamber (inner side)

Flat surface without spring facing outward

Simple note: The spring is facing inward, and the sealing lip is facing the oil.

Press in installation

Use a one-to-one sleeve and pressure plate to evenly press in.

Keep the oil seal perpendicular to the hole and do not tilt it.

Press until it is level with the end face, do not over tap.

Check after installation

The oil seal is not skewed or deformed.

The spring has not fallen off and the lip has not been folded.

3、 Common taboos (writing FAQ is very practical)

Do not directly hit the oil seal with a hammer, as it is prone to deformation and oil leakage.

Don't install it backwards, it will cause oil leakage.

When the shaft has worn grooves, simply replacing the oil seal will still cause leakage. It is necessary to serve the shaft carefully or use a larger oil seal/wear-resistant (based on actual reports) sleeve.

Do not soak oil seals in gasoline or diesel, as it will accelerate aging.
