What precautions should be taken when installing O-rings?
Precautions for installing O-rings
Check the grooves and shaft holes
There should be no burrs, iron filings, rust, or impurities in the groove, otherwise the O-ring will be cut directly.
Check the size and material
The wire diameter and inner diameter need to be matched; The material should be resistant to the corresponding medium (oil/water/chemicals) and should not be mixed.
Apply lubrication
Before installation, apply lubricating grease, silicone oil, or the same system medium to the surface and grooves of the O-ring to prevent dry friction and strain.
Prevent distortion and flipping
It is required to put it into the groove smoothly without twisting Fried Dough Twists or turning out, or it will leak oil and gas.
Protect the shaft shoulder, thread, and keyway
When passing through sharp corners, threads, and steps, wrap them with an introduction sleeve or tape to avoid scratching the lips.
Uniform assembly, no hard smashing or prying
Slowly press in with a sleeve or press, do not use a screwdriver to firmly fasten, to avoid scratching the O-ring.
Pay attention to the installation direction
The structure has a retaining ring (washer), and the position of the retaining ring cannot be reversed; The combination seal should distinguish the pressure bearing surface.
Avoid excessive stretching
Do not manually stretch too much, otherwise there will be insufficient rebound and easy relaxation and leakage.
Try not to reuse old circles as much as possible
The disassembled O-ring has undergone long-term deformation, and the sealing performance has significantly decreased when reinstalled.
Check after installation
Confirm that all O-rings are inserted into the groove, without protrusion or distortion, and then close the cover for pressure testing.
