Pickup brake caliper rubber parts

The rubber parts of the pickup brake caliper are the core sealing and protective components in the pickup disc brake system, directly related to the safety of braking. Pickups have much higher requirements for heat resistance, oil resistance, wear resistance (based on actual reports), and aging resistance than ordinary sedans due to their frequent heavy loads and running on rough roads.

1、 Main components (included in one repair kit)

Piston sealing ring (main oil seal)

Function: Seal brake fluid and withstand high pressure (10-30MPa); When the brake is released, it relies on elastic rebound to drive the piston back to its original position and prevent dragging.

Structure: Square/rectangular cross-section.

Piston dust cover (dust cover)

Function: Block sediment, water, and dust from entering the piston chamber, preventing the piston from being pulled or stuck on the cylinder wall.

Structure: Corrugated telescopic rubber sleeve.

Guide pin (sliding pin) dust cover

Function: Protect the sliding guide pin of the floating caliper, prevent corrosion (based on actual reports), prevent mud and sand, and ensure that the caliper can slide freely and the brake pads wear evenly.

2、 Core material (one-to-one pickup truck)

Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM): a mainstream trustworthy merchant. Resistant to DOT3/DOT4/DOT5.1 synthetic brake fluid, high temperature (based on actual reports) (-40 ℃~135 ℃), weather aging resistance, hydrolysis resistance, suitable for harsh working conditions of pickup trucks.

Nitrile rubber (NBR): early/economical type, resistant to mineral oil, but not resistant to synthetic brake fluid, prone to swelling, short lifespan, and less commonly used in pickup trucks.

Fluororubber (FKM): excellent/heavy-duty, ultra high temperature resistance (based on actual reports) (200 ℃+), strong corrosion resistance, high price.

3、 Failure performance (requiring immediate replacement)

Oil leakage: There are yellow/red oil stains (brake fluid) on the wheel rim and caliper, and the sealing ring is damaged.

Dragging/biased braking: unilateral heating, weak driving force → aging of sealing ring, piston jamming.

Abnormal noise/return difference: Friction sound after releasing the brake → Dust cover ruptures and guide pin rusts.

Rubber: cracking, sticking, swelling, hardening → material aging.

4、 Key points for pickup truck selection

EPDM material is required, compatible with DOT3/DOT4 brake fluid.

Repair Kit: Includes sealing ring, dust cover, guide pin cover, and a complete set for better replacement.

Heavy duty/Off road Pickup: Choose thick, high tear resistance, good performance, and dust resistance.
