Santana brake caliper rubber parts

The rubber parts of Santana brake calipers are the core sealing components of the front disc brake single piston calipers. They are made of EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber and are compatible with DOT3/DOT4 brake fluid. They are commonly used vulnerable parts in the maintenance of old Santana brakes.

1、 A set of repair kit standard components (front calipers)

Piston main sealing ring (square/rectangular)

Size: 48mm (universal for Pusan/2000/3000 front cylinder)

Function: High pressure sealed brake fluid, rebound piston when the brake is released, anti drag brake

Failure: Oil leakage, brake softness, piston sticking

Piston dust cover (corrugated)

Function: Block sediment, water, and dust, protect the piston and cylinder wall

Failure: rupture and ash ingress → piston strain, jamming, abnormal noise

Guide pin (sliding pin) dust cover+liner

Function: Protect the sliding pin of the floating caliper, prevent corrosion (based on actual reports), and prevent sedimentation

Failure: Rusted guide pin → unilateral wear, biased braking, and overheating of brake pads

2、 Material standard (Santana original factory/excellent subsidiary factory)

Required: EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber)

Resistant to DOT3/DOT4 brake fluid, -40 ℃~135 ℃, aging resistant, non swelling

Both the original factory and reputable brands (such as AUTOFREN SEINSA and QUICK BRAKE) use EPDM

Prohibited: NBR nitrile rubber

Not resistant to synthetic brake fluid, prone to swelling, softening, and oil leakage. It is strictly prohibited to use it when renovating old cars

3、 Common faults and signal replacement

Oil leakage: yellow/red brake fluid traces on the caliper/wheel rim → main seal ring damaged

Dragging brake/unilateral heating: weak driving, tire overheating → aging of sealing ring, piston not returning to its original position

Brake abnormal noise, differential return: broken dust cover, rusted guide pin

Rubber aging: cracking, sticking, hardening, loss of elasticity → replace immediately
