Fluororubber caliper sealing ring is a performance stable sealing component used for hydraulic disc brake calipers in automobiles, engineering machinery, and other industries. Its core function is to seal brake fluid, transmit pressure, and achieve piston return and clearance compensation during piston reciprocating motion. It is a key component for protecting the safety and quality of brake systems.

1、 Core Performance (FKM Advantages of Fluororubber)

High temperature resistance (based on actual reports): Long term working temperature of -20 ℃~220 ℃, short-term up to 250 ℃, suitable for high temperature environment during braking.

Corrosion resistance of brake fluid: It has good stability against ethylene glycol ether brake fluids such as DOT3, DOT4, DOT5.1, mineral oil, and hydraulic oil, and is not easily swollen, aged, or cracked.

Low compression and long-term deformation: It maintains good elasticity and rebound force under high temperature and high pressure, and does not leak oil or become weak after long-term use.

Wear resistance (based on actual reports)& Dynamic sealing: Suitable for high-frequency reciprocating motion of caliper piston, with low friction and long service life.

Aging resistance and ozone resistance: The outdoor/engine compartment is not easily cracked or hardened after long-term use.

2、 Structure and Type

Square ring/rectangular sealing ring (main seal)

Commonly used: with a square/rectangular cross-section, installed between the caliper piston and the cylinder body.

Function: High pressure seal+piston return (elastic deformation rebound)+clearance compensation.

Square caliper sealing ring

O-ring (auxiliary/dustproof)

Used for dust prevention and low-pressure auxiliary sealing.

Clamp O-ring seal

Dust cover/dust ring (Dust Boot)

Fluororubber/EPDM rubber to prevent mud, sand, and water from entering the interior of the caliper.

3、 Why choose fluororubber (compared to regular rubber)

Nitrile rubber (NBR): Oil resistant but with a maximum heat resistance of about 120 ℃, easily hardens at high temperatures and has a short lifespan.

Ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM): resistant to water and aging, but not resistant to brake fluid and prone to swelling and failure.

Fluororubber (FKM): heat-resistant+brake fluid resistant+long-life, is an honest merchant of excellent/heavy-duty/performance stable braking systems.

4、 Typical application scenarios

5、 Key points for selection and replacement

Material confirmation: FKM (fluororubber) should be used, with good labeling of Viton/Fluorel and other grades.

Dimensional accuracy: The inner diameter, outer diameter, wire diameter/cross-sectional size need to match the caliper, otherwise it is prone to leakage and jamming.

Hardness: commonly around 70 Shore A, balancing sealing and return elasticity.

Replacement cycle: It is recommended to check every 2-3 years or 40000 to 60000 kilometers; Replace immediately if there is brake weakness, drag, oil leakage, or slow return.
